The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) is a prestigious two year course of studies which corresponds to the fourth and fifth year of the Italian high school or to the last two years (10th and 11th grade) of foreign 12-year school systems.
The course is authorized by the IBO (International Baccalaureate Organization) and the diploma is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Public Education. The diploma is considered a prestigious final high school award (with an emphasis either on languages or sciences depending on the subjects chosen by the student) and based on the most advanced foreign educational systems.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma is recognized by the most important Universities worldwide.
Classes are small, all subjects are taught in English by mother tongue or bilingual teachers, and classrooms are fully equipped.
Only class in languages, such as Spanish, French and Italian are languages other than English. VIS is deeply rooted in its Italian background; Italian language and literature courses provide the depth and cultural breath fundamental to our cultural heritage.
All Diploma Program subjects are characterized by innovative contents and interactive teaching methodologies.
There are eight main areas of studies with the aim of offering the broadest possible range of skills and competencies.
The three traditional fields: literary (Italian or English language and literature), linguistic (English, French, Spanish) and scientific (Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Economics) are complemented by TOK (Theory of Knowledge) and CAS (Creativity, Action , Service): the first consisting of a modern reinterpretation of epistemology and the latter encompassing activities ranging from sports to voluntary service and journalism.
