Jannik Sinner, number 4 of the actual ATP ranking
THE SINNER MANIA
As we all know, the 54th edition of the Nitto ATP Finals was recently held here in Turin, one of the most prestigious tennis competitions, which every year brings together the eight best players from all over the world. Any tennis player who can be defined as a champion has graced the court of this incredible tournament at least once, and in 2023 our Jannik Sinner, number 4 in the world rankings and winner of numerous other ATP titles, stood out among all.
Jannik managed to win 4 consecutive matches, passing the round-robin undefeated. He subsequently defeated the Russian Danil Medvedev, number 3, in the semifinals, and then surrendered in the final to Novak Djokovic, the legendary number 1, who despite being beaten by Jannik in the group stage this time did not let himself be overwhelmed.
Despite this, for the Italian public Jannik Sinner left the tournament as a winner. His charisma, combined with his extraordinary tennis skills, have managed to win the hearts of all fans of this wonderful sport, from the oldest to the youngest.
The phenomenon of "Sinner Mania" has also hit our school, bewitching male and female students. During the week of the ATP Finals, Sinner was on the lips of many kids, and I found myself for the first time being able to discuss the sport I love with my mates, who usually prefer football. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to interview Riccardo Macrillò, another student from our high school with whom I share a passion for tennis. Riccardo and I are both competitive tennis players, and we went to watch some live matches to study the game of the great champions and improve our skills.
