In high school, we had a very eventful month. From the first time participation in the IGCSE Mocks to passing the first phase of the math Olympiad achieved by some of our brilliant classmates to numerous STEM activities and sex education.

THE FIRST TIME OF THE IGCSE CAMBRIDGE MATH MOCKS FOR SECOND GRADERS AT EUROPEAN HIGH SCHOOL

Congratulations to the 2ABCD students who took the IGCSE Math Mocks and scored to continue their preparation for the final test! And especially congratulations to Margherita Dardanelli and Alexandra Fulga who received an Award of Merit from Vittoria High School.

The Math Olympiad

Congratulations to the high school and VIS students: ARESCA SAMUELE, CAPANEMA MANOELLA, LEWIN ALISON ROSE for passing the first selection of the Mathematics Olympiad and achieving the certificate of excellence " Archimedes Games". Good luck for the second (regional) selection.  The finals will be held in Cesenatico in May.

STEM WORKSHOPS IN THE TWO-YEAR CLASSES

"The colors of the Middle Ages" and "The Botanical Garden of Turin: Correlations between vegetation, soil geology and climate change"

Working in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) mode, STIM in Italian (where "I" is the abbreviation for Engineering) is meant to indicate the laboratory activity involving the whole range of scientific-technological disciplines and related fields of study. At Vittoria for some years now, ample space has been given to this inter- and multi-disciplinary approach, along with the contamination of theory and practice. We, students of the first two years, led by Professors Bertolini (Natural Sciences), Correndo (Physics) , Genovese (Mathematics and Computer Science), Leccia (Technology) and 'laboratory assistant Dr. Maria Botavina, have recently concluded the project: "The colors of the Middle Ages" and started the Project "The Botanical Garden of Turin. Correlations between vegetation and climate change," which will compete for the International "Green Age" Award.  Award ceremony in Rome , May 7, 2024. Spazio Europa, Office in Italy of the European Parliament and by the Representation in Italy of the European Commission.

Correlations between vegetation, soil geology and climate change."

Natural Science: Field experience and interview with the Director of the Botanical Garden. Laboratory experiences on PH of plant species . Piedmont region of Italy with the highest plant biodiversity, the alpine, continental and Mediterranean.

Physics: The physics of climate change

2030 AGENDA GOAL 3: HEALTH AND WELL-BEING > HIT!

The Sex Education Project, proposed to the third and fourth grades by psychologists Dr. Minni and Magno and science teacher Prof. Bertolini, for the "Anatomy and Physiology of the Reproductive System" and "Health Education" parts, was judged very satisfactory by the high school students.

The meetings were held in active/participatory mode, a methodology greatly appreciated by all.  The vast majority of participants, especially fourth graders, found the topics discussed with Prof. Bertolini very useful and interesting, and the meeting with the psychologists very engaging and comprehensive. Some students, mostly third graders, complained about the excessive length of the meeting and the too large space devoted to gender issues on which, according to the psychologists, it is instead worth dwelling to make emotional-emotional considerations. Other meetings on the broad topic of Sex Education have been requested
