Open Lessons for Children: a Christmas of sharing and joy

The Christmas holidays are a magical time, and again this year the kindergarten classes at our school wanted to celebrate them in a special way with open classes.

The idea of the open classes stems from the desire to create a quality time between parents and children, while also involving the families of their classmates and teachers. Our teaching staff chose to avoid structured recitals, preferring activities that represent everyday school life, enhancing the authentic meaning of the festivities: sharing, unity and collaboration.

Singing and dancing

Each class opened the event with a selection of Christmas songs and dances, actively involving the parents:

  • Year 3 class: 'Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes', 'The Christmas Roundabout' and 'Itsy Bitsy Spider'.
  • Year 4 class: "Christmas Dance", "I'm a Dancing Christmas Tree" and "1,2,3,4,5 Jump".
  • Year 5 class: "The Dance of Friends" and "I'm the Happiest Christmas Tree".

Workshops with parents

After the singing and dancing, children and parents collaborated in the creation of Christmas items:

  • 3-year-olds: a Christmas card with a Christmas tree made by printing the foot with green tempera.
  • 4 years: a three-dimensional Christmas tree created with two triangles and decorations numbered up to 10, an activity that complemented the numerical learning path.
  • 5 years: a Christmas tree on a wooden base, decorated with strips of coloured cardboard, an exercise that combined manual skills and creative design.

A sweet conclusion

The day ended with a Christmas snack offered by the school. Pandoro, panettone, hot chocolate and fruit juices accompanied moments of dialogue and conviviality between children, parents and teachers, strengthening the sense of community that makes our school a special place.

Thank you to everyone who participated and made this event magical. Happy Holidays! 🎄🎁
