Cambridge IGCSE - ICE

The Cambridge International Certificate of Education (ICE) pathway encompasses a two-year course made of seven IGCSE courses.

They serve as the international version of the General Certificates of Secondary Education, or GCSEs, which are the national qualification demonstrating completion of the compulsory 16-year school cycle in the UK.

Educational pathway

Our ICE pathway offers two different options, the linguistic and the scientific track. Both tracks include seven IGCSE subjects. Five of them are related to the five Cambridge main areas: Languages (group 1); Humanities and Social Sciences (group 2); Sciences (group 3); Mathematics (group 4); Professional and Creative (group 5). the additional two subjects refer to the track chosen (a second foreing language and Geography for the Linguistic track or advanced Mathematics and Science for the Scientific track).

In addition to these courses, Vittoria Schools Torino requires also another subject for all students, Italian. Italian-speaking students study Italian in compliance with the MIUR based Italian programme; native speakers of other languages study Italian as a second language (L2).
All ICE students attend further courses and workshops on critical thinking and developing soft skills. This fulfils their requirement in completing their ICE preparation and they can subsequently enter the two-year IB Diploma Programme.

The final qualification

The Cambridge International Certificate of Education (ICE) is awarded to students who succeed in passing at least seven exams in their official IGCSE subjects.
Vittoria Schools Torino is the

The ICE diploma is awarded according to the following grading system:

  • Distinction – Grade A in at least five subjects

  • Merit – Grade C or above in five subjects and Grade E or F in two subjects
